today i ran into 2 reasons i wish i had a camera or could sketch like booce. something to capture these moments of pure chic and pure disaster. what i am attempting to describe does not do justice.
chic:
two young gals just chillin at strada cafe, just minding their own bidness. one was working intently at her pink barbie laptop while the other brought over some drinks for the two. her hands could barely wrap around the cups and matching java jackets. they couldn't have been older than 6 or 7 but they carried themselves with such poise. i snuck to the side and waited to see they were there all by themselves or waiting for the rest of their malibu stacey study group to show.
disaster:
330cl caterpillar excavator gentlely digging a 14 ft deep trench. on the 7th try, at 30 ft of the 7,180 ft to go, water comes rushing into the hole. no problem, pump the water out. can't pump fast enough. at 50 ft of the 7,150 ft to go...a collapse. in an instant, the trench walls cave in. "run for the high ground!" dirt splatters foul water and musty debris on all of us. that costed $50,000.
